A movement for
The first consumer cellphone was sold in 1984. The world wide web was invented in 1989. Smartphones with internet were released in 2002.
In less than 30 years, voices were replaced by typed words, emotions by emojis, and in-person meetings by facetime. We left introspection and growth for a state of distraction.
Two years ago we “focused” together — and accomplished something extraordinary. Shuls went phone-free. Individuals established personal technology boundaries. And hundreds promised greater attention to their spouses and children. We created a culture shift, swapping relationships with technology for one with Hashem.
But time passed, our world shifted. And we fell back on technology for connection.
Once again, we need to reinforce the culture change – by building real habits and real standards, for change that lasts.
